Hammersmith revs up for Ford conversion

Plans to transform a Grade II listed former Ford Motors warehouse in West London into an office HQ were given the green lights this week.

Hammersmith & Fulham council approved Access Self Storage’s change od use application from industrial to offices for the Collado Collins-designed redevelopment of 184 Shepherds Bush Avenue.

The 115,000 sq ft scheme will see three floors added to the historic structure to create a sriking headquarters building (pictured) with floorplates of up to 23,000 sq ft.

The roof extension will feature a glazed grid pattern.

The building was built in 1915-16 by Charles Heathcote and Sons of Manchester for the Ford Motor Company.

Hammersmith is currently starved of grade-A supply. Justin Clack, director of Frost Meadowcroft, said local office supply was at a 10 year low.

Bray Fox Smith is letting agent for Access Self Storage.
